Best Cookie on 30A and More at Chanticleer

What is the best chocolate chip cookie on Florida’s 30A? I feel I can say with authority that it can be found at Chanticleer in Grayton Beach. We have well established that I know my chocolate chip cookies. My two daughters are also aficionados. In Houston, we can name our favorites in seconds (we usually rate Tiny’s Milk and Cookies #1 in Houston). On 30A, it is hands down, Chanticleer. Is it better than Houston’s Milk and Cookies? We may need a cookie-off one day.

However, Chanticleer is not a bakery. It is a delicious, full-service restaurant that just happens to serve an exquisite cookie.
Chanticleer, open for lunch and dinner on certain days of the week, serves salads, sandwiches, steaks, burgers, and more. We stopped in for lunch on a Monday and had two fantastic sandwiches. Plus cookies.
First up, the Club Sandwich. Chanticleer stacks tender and delicious ham, turkey, bacon, cheddar, Swiss, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and red onion on honey oatmeal bread. The bread is super soft and thick. The portions of each component are substantial. The sandwich is a top-notch Club Sandwich. Each Chanticleer sandwich comes with a pickle and a side. We chose French fries, because…fries! The potatoes were perfectly crispy. They were like a perfect fast food French fry.

Next up, the Turkey Bacon Guacamole Sandwich. This avocado mash sandwich wins the prize for a heavenly sandwich. The ingredients, layered on a garlic butter toasted Italian herbed roll, include guacamole, bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion, melted cheddar, and a special southwest ranch dressing. I loved this plate! We ordered the pasta salad as the side, which was creamy and sweet with a kick of spicey heat. Perfecto!

After enjoying this delicious meal with my precious two daughters, we ordered chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Having had their cookies previously, we already knew these cookies were sublime. However, today confirmed our thinking. These cookies are THE BEST!

Chanticleer offers delicious fare, has fantastic service, and even has a regular visitor, Gary the Grayton Dog. He comes to Grayton Beach each workday with his owner. While his owner is working in a nearby office, Gary the Grayton Dog visits Chanticleer and Hurricane Oyster Bar and Grill. He’s the sweetest dog that just says a quick “hello” to patrons and carries on his way. As they say in Grayton Beach, “nice dogs, strange people.” Gary is super nice and adorable.
