Black Bear Bread Co. - Grayton Beach
Updated: May 10
One of my very favorite eateries along 30A is Black Bear Bread Co. With its original location Grayton Beach and a new addition in the Hyatt Place Sandestin at Grand Boulevard, you are promised delicious fare. But get there early! They WILL sell out of your favorite. Black Bear offers coffees, teas, pastries, sandwiches, and salads. The Grayton Beach location also has a Bar Room serving wine and beer. It’s a perfect date night or girls’ night to grab a cheese board and bottle of wine.
Today, I had to try the Oatmeal Cream Pie Cookie. This reminds me of the Little Debbie Oatmeal Crème Pies. But, in true Black Bear fashion, it is even more delicious! It’s an ooey-gooey, sticky, sweet, moist, delectable treat. The outside is soft but has a little bit of crunch. The creamy inside consists a delicious buttercream with, the extra bonus, a layer of smooth caramel. This afternoon (or morning treat in my case) is the perfect pick-me-up and reward.
Like all the baked goods at Black Bear, it is made fresh and in-house, right on the premises (well, technically next door to the Grayton Beach location). Get to Black Bear early because they do sell out of items.
My favorite breakfast item is the Benton's Bacon, Fried Egg, White Cheddar on your choice of Bread. If you order it, choose the biscuit! This breakfast sandwich is made with a from-scratch buttermilk biscuit, egg, cheese, and greens. The biscuit is so tender that it falls apart in a delicious crumble. The arugula is a nice bitter, tart compliment to the biscuit and egg. It’s a wonderful dish. The avocado tartine is delicious as well as the croissants. I mean, y’all, it’s ALL good!
Seriously, get to Black Bear early, or you will be waiting in line, and your selection may be sold out. The line is worth the wait! The service and food never disappoint.
