Pickle's in Seaside, Florida

Pickle’s is a hamburger stand in Seaside, Florida. The design harkens back to a diner with all of the nostalgia that comes with that atmosphere. The “windows” are all open-air, giving the little eatery a friendly outdoor setting with the gulf breezes flowing through. Pickles is super casual, as a beach hamburger stand should be, ordering at the counter and picking up your meal when your name is called.
The Pickle’s menu is what you would expect from a hamburger stand. Hamburgers, fries, sandwiches, shakes, chicken fingers, and fried pickles, of course! They also serve breakfast, including the Hangover Omelet.

Pickle’s is under relatively new ownership – a family from Texas! Woo Hoo! Even before the Beecher Family from Houston bought The Dawson Group, the restaurant group’s history was really worth noting. Forty years ago, Seaside was first founded by Robert Davis and his wife, Daryl. Robert’s grandfather left him 80 acres on 30A. Robert’s vision for Seaside was the New Urbanism style of planning, and this urban planning style is modeled after small towns with tight communities.
At the beginning of Seaside’s growth, Bill Dawson visited and quickly introduced his girlfriend, Heavenly. The Dawson group was born, and the couple opened Dawson’s Yogurt in 1988, one of the first businesses in Seaside. Pickle’s was opened in 1993, followed by It’s Heavenly Ice Cream, The Shrimp Shack, and Wild Bill’s Hotdogs.

I have always enjoyed Pickle’s because I’m a cheeseburger girl. During The Covid Quarantine Days in Spring 2020, Pickle’s was one of the only places open in the area. I would grab a burger to-go and sit on the back deck of the Seaside School for a picnic. No one was around in Seaside or WaterColor. Those days are fun memories. While thankfully that time has passed, the yummy burgers are still around. And, I must say, with the new ownership, I believe the burgers are better and bigger!

I’m a fried pickle lover, and these do not disappoint either with a thick pickle (but not too thick!) and substantial crust (but not too much!). Be sure to ask for a side of Ranch Dressing for dipping. The fried pickle’s do not come with the Ranch automatically on the side (they should!).

Pickle’s is well-known for those who have visited Seaside, Florida. I’m guessing you may have been there yourself. Go back for another visit! It’s a delicious All-American meal!
